Brian Cheney is from the Santa Barbara area and attended college at Utah Valley University. He graduated in 2003 with a Bachelors in Finance and in 2006 received his MBA from Westminster College. In 2003, Brian started his investment career at Goldman Sachs in the Private Wealth Management Operations division where he spent 15 years in a Global Trade Management role. He managed trading and settlement teams for all products which entailed leading more than 50 people across Salt Lake City, Singapore, India, and Switzerland. In 2019 he transitioned from Goldman Sachs to Morgan Stanley to serve as their Compliance Risk Officer overseeing Financial Advisors in the Reno/Tahoe/Elko and Eureka California branches.
Outside of the office Brian finds a lot of purpose and enjoyment as an adjunct professor teaching an investment management course at the University of Nevada Reno and is also a high school soccer referee. In any spare time, he can be found cooking, bbqing, golfing, or playing basketball.
Brian currently lives in Reno, NV with his wife Mandy, and their 4 children Elle, Owen, Hazel, and Finn. They like to snowboard together and take road trips to the beach as much as possible. They ask their kids every year if they would like to go to Disneyland or to the beach and the beach has won every single time.
Brian’s favorite quote is “Don’t complain, don’t explain”
