Gregg Shallan, CFP®, ChFC®, CEPA®, MBA
Managing DirectorAs a senior member of the La Jolla Wealth Partners Team, Gregg advises individuals, trusts, retirement plans, charitable organizations and businesses. Through a long-term, data-driven approach, he helps clients develop and implement strategies for building and preserving wealth. Gregg’s mission is to provide objective and timely financial advice and guidance — with the highest level of professional service — to accomplish these goals.
With 22 years of experience, Gregg has the depth and breadth of knowledge to provide sage advice to his clients. Moreover, he has been awarded the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional certification and the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation, both of which require candidates to demonstrate proficiency in the areas of wealth planning, such as income tax, insurance, investment and estate planning. As the anticipated wave of wealth transfer between generations approaches, Gregg attained the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®) designation to broaden his skills in advising Business Owners of their various exit strategies. He was also named a Forbes Best-In-State Advisors in 2023.
Prior to his positions as a Financial Advisor, Gregg was a U.S. Navy Officer (Commander, Retired), serving in a variety of positions of responsibility in the Naval Special Operations community. During his naval career, Gregg qualified as a hooyah Navy Deep Sea Diver, Naval Parachutist and Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician. He served as Executive Officer of an EOD unit that cleared the Persian Gulf and Kuwaiti harbors of over 1000 sea mines during Desert Storm, and Commanding Officer of a unit tasked with assisting in the search and recovery of TWA Flight 800. During his years as a member of the Navy’s Bomb Squad, Gregg mastered the art of working under pressure and dealing with stress.
While in the Navy, Gregg earned a MBA in International Business from Webster University and was named the Graduate Student of the Year for 2000. Gregg completed his undergraduate studies at Denison University and Duke University with a BS in Marine Biology.
Gregg loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking with his furry Labrador. He recently tested his mental and physical strength by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Aconcagua. Gregg and his wife, Jo, both enjoy watching their two daughters act and perform in theater.

As a Naval Special Operations Officer, Gregg was an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician, responsible for the rendering safe of all hazardous and explosive material on land and in the water. As such, Gregg was also qualified as a Navy Deep Sea Diver and a Naval Parachutist.
